“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.” John 4:23 (NASB)
What does it mean to worship the Father? I found myself reflecting on that question this weekend. So many things ran through my mind in so many different directions but I came to the resolution that is it NOT how I might define worship that is important but rather what does my Heavenly Father wants from me when I worship Him. That was an awakening for me. Am I truly worshipping God in such a way that He is pleased and aware of my awe, appreciation, reverence and gratitude?
So what is worship? I first had to define worship for myself.
W- Wonder and awe at God’s handiwork; Willingness to be used by Him for His purpose.
O – Oracles from one’s heart; Openness to the Spirit’s leading
R – Giving Him the Realities of My Life
S – Silence to listen and hear the still small voice of God and act accordingly
H – Honest Heart
I – Intelligence Used with Integrity
P – Praise, Prayer and Living Up to Ones Potential
Worship is an action word. An opportunity to make an outward expression of what is going on in my heart, mind and soul. The things revealed to me by the Holy Spirit and the truths that I chose to live by should be shared with others. Our heavenly Father seeks and is looking for those who choose to WORSHIP Him with everything they are, everything they say and everything they do.
