Widow's Weekend
May 13

Join us on Mother’s Day weekend May, 13th & 14th as we partner with Far Corners to bring Widows Weekend to The Creek. Far Corners engages the culture in India through their widow ministry. You may be wondering why widow ministry? Up until 1829, a practice called Sati was practiced among. Hindu communities where a recently widowed women, either voluntarily or by force, immolates herself on her deceased husband’s pyre. This was considered to be the highest expression of wifely devotion to a dead husband. People of Hindu faith believed that such an act would have good karma and a much better life in her next birth.

Though the practice of Sati has ended, widows are considered to have no role to play in society and are considered a burden. These women have on-going needs that we feel compelled to meet. Through reading Scripture and seeing this need firsthand, Far Corners is compelled to serve these widows through sponsorship.

Our request for you is to seek God and ask if you are to be one of our sponsors and change a widow’s life. Your monthly sponsorship of $10.00 will provide their necessary food rations, medications, clothing, and blankets.

Please email bchoate@farcorners.org with questions about sponsorship or if you are interested in learning more about India missions.
