Staff Spotlight: Whitney Moline

We have an amazing staff at The Creek, and I would love to introduce you to some of our newer faces so you can understand who they are, their heart for ministry, and what God has called them to do here at The Creek!
Today, we’re getting to know our Children’s Pastor, Whitney Moline! Every week she loves on your CreeKids, making sure they feel loved and are learning the bible in an exciting way! Let’s hear from Mrs. Whitney!

1. Give us a short overview of who you are!

“I grew up in Sherwood, Arkansas but moved to Texas when I was in the 8th grade. I grew up with my little brother, Corey, and my parents! My family and I were very close thanks to my parents making family time a priority, therefore, growing up we did a lot of things together every weekend. I lived in Mansfield, Texas with my family until I graduated high school and went to Dallas Baptist University. I spent 3 years there, getting my bachelors degree in Christian Studies. In the middle of my 3rd year I got married to my husband, Stephen! While we thought we would stay in Mansfield, God had other plans. God called us to move to Springtown in order to work at the High School, and a year later I started working at The Creek. Since then, I’ve also started the journey to getting my Masters at DBU in Christian Counseling."

2. What is a fun fact that people may not know about you?

"One thing that not a lot of people know about me is that I am very sarcastic! I have a very dry sarcasm and have to be careful it doesn’t come across as me being serious. There are very few people who see the full side of my sarcasm, but if you see my do that means we have hit a new level of friendship!"

3. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

"If I had to eat one meal for the rest of my life it would probably be chicken strips. I am a very picky eater so I like to keep it simple. Plus, as a children’s pastor I like to be able to relate to kids so aligning my tastebuds to theirs is a great way to connect. I take my job very seriously!"

4. What has made you so passionate about Children's Ministry, and what do you love about it?

"The best way to describe why I love children’s ministry is by sharing one of the life changing moments I get to see every weekend. This past weekend we were singing a song called “I Will Carry You” by Ellie Holcomb. The song is about how God will carry us through the roughest parts of our life. As I was leading worship I looked out and saw a sweet little boy who had a rough year. He’s dealt with being in the hospital for long periods of time and missing out on being a kid. But I look up and see him with his eyes closed shouting the words of the song about how God will carry him through it all. I teared up because looking at him, I knew that he truly knew what it meant to walk through hard times, yet he praised God in the midst of it. I think a lot of people have a misconception of what kids ministry is. It’s often thought of as a babysitting program or that it’s there to give parents an opportunity to go into service. Kids ministry is so much more. It is showing these kids a God who loves them more than anyone ever will. I love kids ministry because I get the privilege of seeing lives transformed every week!"

5. Tell us a little bit about the heart behind CreeKid’s:

"The heart behind CreeKids is simple: for them to know how loved they are by Christ. There are a couple ways we encourage this as leaders. One is through the teaching and small groups. We want the kids to walk away knowing Jesus died for them because He loved them (John 3:16), and that they are created, designed and empowered by God (Ephesians 2:10)! We also like to show them these concepts through how we love them as leaders. Our job on the weekend is to love the kids. First and foremost we want to show them that they are loved and seen through how we interact with them. Then everything else can follow!"

6. Lastly, tell us about a hobby you have outside of church or CreeKid’s!

"One of my favorite hobbies is art! I enjoy doing anything artsy. Whether it is painting, drawing or even baking and designing cakes, I enjoy it because it gives me a chance to breathe and de-stress! I started doing art when I was younger because every summer when we would go to my grandmother’s house, she would teach me something new. I definitely get my love of art from her!"

We’re SO grateful for Mrs. Whitney and the way she loves and teaches our CreeKid’s! The next time you see her on campus, give her a high five…or coffee!
