Life Group Spotlight

If you’ve been at The Creek for any amount of time, you’ve heard us stress the importance of being Set in Family through Life Groups. We are huge believers in the idea that church happens outside of the building, and some of the best discussions happen around a kitchen island while snacking on chips and salsa. One of our longest running life groups is a group of men who meet together each Monday. These guys have seen each other through a lot of life, and a LOT of different seasons. They serve together, grow in faith together, and are just really good friends. This group is an incredible example of what it means to be Set in Family, and to do community with other people. Here is a little bit about them:

How did the group start?

The group was started years ago by Greg Petersen, and was originally a men’s accountability group that started in his home. Since then, it has grown and evolved into a large group of men that meets every Monday night to discuss the previous week’s message. Together, these guys dig into God’s word and are a great example of being Set in Family.

How was your group affected by COVID?

After meeting in person for so long, the guys adjusted to their circumstances and added Zoom to our weekly meeting option. Today, some group members continue to use Zoom when they are not able to join in person. Despite what the world was going through, we didn't let COVID affect our ability to study God's word. The group has remained extremely faithful even during this time.

What value do you see in being a part of a life group?

The group is invaluable and hard to describe in a blurb or simple comment.  Men getting together to encourage one another, Study the Word, help each other with day-to-day issues, and wonderful fellowship has been valued by all.
What does it look like for your group to be Set in Family and Set in Motion?  Many of the men volunteer at church and non-church functions. Lots of phone calls and in-person visits too. When there is a need at the church, this group of men is often one of the first to step up and help. They are reliable and gracious with their time!

Why should our church body get plugged into a life group? Learning, fellowship, fun, prayer... ‘Nuff said.
