Serve Weekend Recap: October 2022
Last weekend was our second Serve Weekend of the year, and just like May, it was an incredible weekend of our Creek family being Set in Motion all over the metroplex. We saw almost 400 people engage with dozens of projects from Thursday-Monday. From Trunk-or-Treats and Boo Bashes to sorting clothes and objects for the homeless community in Downtown Fort Worth, our church body stepped up in an incredible way!
I want to take a few minutes and highlight 3 wins of Serve Weekend and share with you some incredible stories!
At When We Love, we saw an incredible story of one of our Creek family members serving the homeless community, and sharing her story with us! The mission of When We Love is, “Beyond serving immediate needs, we seek to equip and empower those we serve to restore hope, dignity and self worth as they work to achieve stability, transformation and self-sufficiency. We take a holistic approach meeting people at their point of need, walking with them and providing opportunity for self-improvement through relative programs, resources, continued education, relational case management and mentoring.” One of our Creek members has experienced what it means to be on the other side of this need, and took time to serve this community. One of our favorite things to see is life groups serving together at various projects, and we saw a lot of it this weekend! We saw the Petersen Life Group take time to serve together at Love and Light, and the McCoy group gathered to make an impact as a team. When we see our church body Set in Family and Set in Motion together, we celebrate! If you’re on the fence about joining a life group, try it! Serving together, praying together, and doing life together is one of the greatest blessing a church community can offer!
On Monday night, we saw dozens of Creek Families break out fabulous Halloween costumes, delicious food, awesome decorations, and TONS of candy to host Boo Bashes in their yards. We saw Creek-ers giving out THOUSANDS of pieces of candy, all while sharing the love of Jesus with their neighbors. We believe that Halloween is an incredible time to connect with people around you, and love on hundreds of neighbors. We loved seeing all of the photos, and cannot wait until next year!
We could not be more proud of the way our Creek Family shared the love, joy, and hope of Christ all over the metroplex this weekend. The stories of how the projects impacted you and those around you are pouring in, and each one is a true blessing!
Even though we won’t have another Serve Weekend until May of 2023, here is what we want you to know: Don’t wait. Get involved now! Between all of the ministries at The Creek, and all of the ministries we support as a church, there are hundreds of ways for you to be Set in Motion. Ask the Lord where He wants you!
