Focus Week 4: Set in Motion

I always enjoy when it’s the start of a new year and we cast vision with our church body. Getting back to the
fundamentals of who we are as a church is energizing and motivating.
The Focus series has given us the opportunity to reflect on the importance of our “Set Ins”. It all starts with
being Set in Relationship with God, Set in Family as a church body, to be Set Free from anything that hinders
our relationship with God and to be Set in Motion, serving others as Jesus did.
To be Set in Motion is to take action and to change place or position. Whether you are looking to serve within
our four walls, locally or globally it all starts with taking the first step. James 2:17 says: that faith by itself, if it
does not have works, is dead.
Here is just a sampling of how our Creek family was Set in Motion in 2021:
- Each weekend, we have 50-75 volunteers serving in every area of ministry.
- Through our mobile food pantries, we served 1813 Families or 8810 individuals with 188,692 pounds of food given out. We had 50-100 individuals set in motion foreach mobile food pantry.
- Our church donated 104 units of life saving blood in 2021.
- We blessed many of our local schools with much needed school supplies and back packs at the beginning on the school year.
- In October, We held our first Serve Weekend since fall of 2019. We had 305 Creekers Set in Motion, over 650 volunteer hours, and many lives impacted by being the hands and feet of Jesus. It was amazing to see all the connections made and many continued to serve the organization they helped over the weekend.
- 204+ children had a brighter Christmas this year because of generously donated gifts.
- 498 Christmas Wreaths were donated and placed by Creek volunteers on headstones of our fallen heroes at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
On a global level, The Creek will have a team of eight returning to Rwanda for the first time since March 2020. Our goal is to see lives transformed through meeting basic needs, to give hope for the future for those living in poverty in Rwanda, and to share the freedom and hope found in Christ. We had over 100 Creek family serve over our Christmas Eve services welcoming our Creek family and many first-time visitors to our church.
We can’t thank those who faithfully give their time serving others enough. We so appreciate your heart and
selflessness, glorifying God in what you do. For those not currently serving and are ready to take the first step of being Set in Motion, we are here to help. Please stop by the Welcome Center or email info@thecreekfw.com and we will help you get connected using your God given gifts.
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the
words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,”
Acts 20:35
