Set in Motion: The Beauty of Giving Back

One of the many reasons that my husband and I joined The Creek years ago was the heart that we could see for serving others. Not only did we witness engagement within the four walls of our church, but in our community and around the world. Giving back to the community we live in has always been very important to me, and The Creek has given us a platform to do just that.
Our vision at The Creek is to see lives changed by the message of Jesus Christ. When we are
effective in that mission, we see people: Set in Relationship with Christ, Set in Family with one another, Set Free from the things that hinder our faith, and to be Set in Motion, serving our community and our world. Jesus was the ultimate servant leader, leading by example in all that He did.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). God already has plans for us, to serve Him and our brothers and sisters. Is there something that you feel God wants to do through you? Have you asked God how and where you should be serving, helping others and glorifying Him? Do you have gifts or a passion that you would like to put into action?
It says in James 2:14-17 that if we have faith but not works, that our faith is dead. We also learn in the book of Mark that even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve. It is no surprise to me that some form of the word “serve” (service, servant, serving) is mentioned over 1000 times in the Bible.
Whether you have been called to give, share, or serve do so with a grateful heart, not reluctantly or out of obligation, but in a manner that glories and is pleasing to God. “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35)
The Creek has many ways for you to be Set in Motion. As being part of The Creek family, we want to help serve the family. Whether serving during weekend services, helping with NextGen ministries, or perhaps helping with a Bible study, the Creek has a spot for you to serve. If you are looking to be involved outside the walls of our church, we have many organizations and ministries that are looking for volunteers.
If God has placed it on your heart to serve internationally, we have opportunities for you there as well. We have a team going to India this fall and in early 2024. We will be heading back to Rwanda, Africa in February of 2024 and to Mazatlán, Mexico in July of 2024.
