Staff Spotlight: Donald!

On this blog this week, we wanted to take the time to highlight one of our AMAZING Pastoral Staff members, Donald Devereaux! Donald oversees our Freedom, Care, and Men's Ministries, and does an incredible job. He's also one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, so if you see him at church, don't be a stranger. To get to know Donald more, we have some fun questions for him!
1: Tell us about yourself!
I was raised in the Butler Housing Project off I-35 near downtown Fort Worth. My mom was single and raised 7 children, with my younger brother being mentally ill. I joined the Navy at 18 and accepted the Lord into my life not long after that. I have a Bachelor degree in Business Management and received most of my christian studies at Berean University. I served on a school board, as a Youth Pastor, Education Director, Evangelist, Christian Rapper, Church Planter, Relational Care pastor, Financial teacher, Care pastor, and Men's pastor. I am a proud father of 7 kids, with a blended family. I was divorced once and during that time, I really got to know God on a deeper level. After 5 years he brought an incredible wonderful woman into my life. We have been married almost three years now!
2. What is a fun fact about you that people may not know?
I have been overseas more times than I can count. I used to be a Christian Rapper, signing on the radio, youth camps, and opening up for christian artists and people like Strike Force, The Katina Brothers, Bob Bennet.
3. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
And not get fat?? Popeye's, and Domino's thin crust pizza with sausage and green olives.
4. What made you passionate about ministry? Why do you love it?
Because for whatever reason, I see Christianity as real. I've seen everything with my eyes, and I KNOW it works. I just want people, all people, to "get it". To come to that "ah ha" moment, surrender to God and say, "now God I get it, let's go God!!!"
5. Tell us a little bit about the heart behind what you do each week.
I'm motivated and humbled to serve as the Care Pastor of the Creek Church. Overseeing the finance, men, freedom, prayer and care ministries allows God to pour through me everything. He has walked me through and shown me even when I was at my deepest darkest time. His grace is sufficient.
6. What is your favorite hobby outside of work and church?
I love walking in the heat (over 100 degrees preferred). Going to the movies with my lovely wife, but clear transparency, we only go for the popcorn. It's not a hobby, but I love listening to the rain.
We could not be more thankful for Donald, his heart for the church, and ultimately, his heart for The Lord!
