Time of Worship: Another One

We learned a new song this last weekend that reminds us of the miracles of God, and reminds us that even in our weakness, we can rely on Him to continue to care for us, and to make a way even when it seems impossible.

One of the things that I love about scripture is the finality, and the authority in the words written. It’s not “by his stripes we may be or will hopefully be healed.” It's by his stripes we are healed. It’s not "where the spirit of the Lord is, there’s freedom if the Lord feels up to it that day." It's where the spirit is there is freedom. It’s not "I will only give you rest if you follow enough rules." It’s come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest.

We do not serve a wishy-washy God. Or a God who cannot be relied on. When we’re faithful to seek Him, He’s faithful to respond. We sing about these grand miracles, and at first thought, it may be easy to ignore the words because we don’t see bones coming to life or seas splitting anymore, but I want to challenge you to think about what those miracles represent. His salvation is still giving new life. He is still freeing his people from the bondage of sin. He is still calming the storms of life’s circumstances. He is still waking us up every morning with new mercies. The “what” may change, but the who never does.

So no, we may not see these earth-shattering miracles like the stories we've read in the Bible, but the truths these miracles represent are still happening everyday, so we have the honor of worshiping from a place of victory and confidence.
